Dubbed the operatic Oscars, the awards will be presented in 19 categories.
Polish musicians and artists are among the shortlisted nominees in five different categories.
The Polish nominees include three singers: baritone Tomasz Konieczny (Male Singer), baritone Andrzej Filończyk (Young Singer), and tenor Piotr Beczała (Opera Magazine Readers’ Award).
Boris Kudlička, a set designer with the National Opera in Warsaw, is nominated in the Designer category, and a Poznań Opera production of Stanisław Moniuszko’s Jawnuta is shortlisted in the Redicovered Work category.
The ceremony will be hosted by BBC Radio 3’s Petroc Trelawny.
The event’s star-studded line-up includes Mexican tenor Alejandro Del Ángel, Armenian soprano Juliana Grigoryan (Grand Prix winner of the 2022 Moniuszko Competition in Warsaw), Ukrainian baritone Nazar Mukulyak, and Poland’s Gabriela Legun (soprano) and Łukasz Goliński (bass-baritone).
The Polish National Opera Orchestra will be conducted by Ukraine’s Andriy Yurkevych, its former music director.
The programme combines the most beautiful fragments from Moniuszko’s operas and gems of the international opera repertoire, the organizers said.
Previous recipients of the International Opera Awards include Waldemar Dąbrowski, general manager of the Polish National Opera, and Mariusz Treliński, the house’s artistic director.
